Mumbai, 29/7: Nearly three years after Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy sparked a nationwide debate by urging young Indians to work 70 hours a week, the Bengaluru-headquartered IT giant has run into trouble in France, not for making employees work long hours,but for allegedly failing to properly record them.
Infosys has been fined €175,000 (around Rs 2 crore) by France’s regional labour authority, DRIEETS Île-de-France, after its employee working-time recording system was found to be non-compliant with the country’s labour regulations, according to a according to a regulatory filing by the company. The French authority concluded that Infosys’ system for recording employees’ working hours did not fully satisfy legal requirements. It flagged deficiencies in the system’s reliability.
