Heroic Youth Rescues Two from Flooded Nagavali River in Rayagada

Rayagada district when a brave local youth risked his life to rescue two people trapped in the swollen Nagavali River near Imaliguda village under Kolnara block.Continuous rainfall had raised the river’s water level, making crossings extremely dangerous.As per reports, Prakash Pedenti, a local farmer, attempted to cross the river on his tractor with his minor relative Hari Pedenti after finishing work on the opposite bank. Midway through, the tractor got stuck in the strong current, leaving both stranded on the vehicle for a long time.As the river’s flow intensified, villagers hesitated to enter the water. Then, a young man from the village courageously plunged into the torrent, battling the current to reach the stranded pair. He successfully brought both the driver and the minor to safety, earning widespread praise for his bravery.Residents said nearly ten villages depend on crossing the Nagavali River daily for farming and essential work. They urged authorities to construct a permanent bridge at the site to prevent future accidents and safeguard lives.The heroic act has inspired the community, reminding everyone of the power of courage and humanity even amid nature’s fury.
