Baleshwar: The Subarnarekha river is surging in Jaleswar in Balasore district due to incessant rains in the upper catchment and discharge of water from Jharkhand’s Galudih Barrage.According to reports at Rajghat, the Subarnarekha has a warning level of 9.45m, which translates to 31 feet with the danger level is 10.36m or 34 feet.The river level had been measured at 6 AM, is 9.64m.River is running above the warning level and there is a possibility that another flood hit Jaleswar since some villages have already been flooded.Meanwhile, the Jalaka River is running above danger level now. Danger level of Mathani in Basta block is 6.50m while water level was running 6.98m at 7 AM.Authorities are keeping an eye to monitor the situation as higher river levels could lead to flooding at low-lying parts and raise the potential of Jaleswar and adjacent areas to be flooded.
