In a major political development ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Sofia Firdous will contest from the Odisha Janata Congress (OJC), not the Congress party.Senior leader Mohammed Moquim clarified the decision, stating that the Congress has lost its ideology and direction.Moquim said the Congress no longer represents its founding principles and has become “unfit” for the current political landscape. He alleged that both the state and Delhi leadership have failed to function effectively, leading to widespread disillusionment among party workers.Confirming Sofia’s candidature from the Barabati constituency, Moquim emphasised that the OJC represents a fresh start for leaders seeking to revive Odisha’s political spirit through regional strength and grassroots connection.
