Puri, : A business owner sustained severe injuries after being stabbed by three unidentified assailants near Father School in Puri on Sunday evening. The victim, identified as Bhimsen Behera, owner of Nanda Factory, is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition. The violent incident occurred around 8:00 PM on Sunday. According to reports, three youths arrived on a motorcycle at Nanda Factory, where Behera was seated at the cash counter. Before the owner could react, the miscreants launched a violent assault, stabbing him in the neck and head. The attackers then looted ₹1 lakh in cash from the counter before fleeing the scene. A blood-soaked Behera was rescued by his family members, who rushed to the site after receiving information and admitted him to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Reliving the ordeal, Behera stated that the attack was likely triggered by a minor road incident earlier that evening. While riding his motorcycle through the local market, his vehicle briefly grazed another motorcycle, leading to a heated argument on the spot. Shortly after he returned to his factory, the youths tracked him down, launched the deadly attack, and threatened to kill him if he reported the matter to the police. Acknowledging the incident, Baselisahi Police Station Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Abhinash Rout confirmed that an altercation between the involved parties led to the violence. Preliminary investigations suggest the miscreants used a chopper or a small iron rod snatched from a nearby vegetable vendor to commit the crime. Police have initiated a probe and are actively monitoring the situation.
