National,: Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, has been honoured with the ‘Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026’ in the Industry category by the State Pollution
Control Board (SPCB) under the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Odisha. The award recognises the company’s continued efforts towards environmental compliance, pollution control and sustainable industrial practices at its Kalinga Nagar facility in Jajpur, Odisha. The award was presented during the 43rd Foundation Day Ceremony of SPCB Odisha, held at the Krishi Siksha Sadan Auditorium, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. The award was conferred by Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Government of Odisha, Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia in the presence of Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Government of Odisha, Sri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma. Commenting on the recognition, Unit Head – Jajpur, Jindal Stainless, Deepak Agrawal, said, “Receiving the Pollution Control Excellence Award from SPCB Odisha is a proud moment for all of us at Jindal Stainless. We will continue to advance clean energy adoption, pollution control and circular economy practices across our operations in Odisha and nationwide.” Alongside the award ceremony, Jindal Stainless showcased its decarbonisation initiatives through an interactive exhibition stall, featuring a working-scale model of its green hydrogen plant for bright annealing, alongside Odisha’s largest captive industrial solar plant and other key initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its manufacturing operations. Jindal Stainless has been advancing the adoption of clean energy and innovative technologies across its operations as part of its broader decarbonisation roadmap. The company’s green hydrogen plant at its Jajpur facility is aimed at replacing conventional fossil fuel based energy use in the bright annealing process, demonstrating the potential for hydrogen-based solutions in energy-intensive industrial applications. The company’s focus on renewable energy is further reflected in its captive solar power initiatives, supporting the transition towards cleaner energy sources for industrial operations. These initiatives complement its efforts across energy efficiency, resource optimisation, waste management and circularity. The recognition by SPCB Odisha further underscores Jindal Stainless’ ongoing efforts to integrate environmental responsibility into its manufacturing processes while supporting Odisha’s broader transition towards sustainable industrial development.
