Other branch officers also conducted similar programmes at designated Stations across the Division.

During these interactions, railway officials listened to passengers’ feedback, suggestions and concerns regarding railway services, station facilities and passenger amenities. The initiative provided an opportunity for passengers to communicate their expectations directly to railway authorities and contribute towards improving the overall travel experience.

The officials also inspected station premises and passenger amenities, with particular emphasis on cleanliness, hygiene and the upkeep of public facilities. They participated in cleanliness drives alongside railway staff, passengers and other stakeholders, reinforcing the message that maintaining clean and passenger-friendly railway stations is a shared responsibility.

Passengers were sensitised to the importance of proper waste management and segregation of waste at source. They were encouraged to use designated dustbins, dispose of waste responsibly and refrain from littering platforms, circulating areas and other railway premises. The importance of cooperation with railway staff, responsible travel practices, passenger safety and the protection of railway property was also highlighted during the programmes.

‘Rail Jan Samvaad’ serves as an important platform for direct engagement between railway officials and passengers, enabling the Railways to understand public expectations, receive valuable suggestions and identify areas requiring improvement. Such interactions also promote awareness about passengers’ responsibilities in maintaining cleanliness, ensuring proper waste disposal and contributing to a safe, hygienic and comfortable railway environment.

The programmes were coordinated by the Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) team of Rayagada Division, in association with Health Inspectors, Commercial Inspectors and Station Managers across various sections and stations. The active involvement of railway officials, staff, passengers and other stakeholders reflected a collective commitment towards cleaner railway premises and improved passenger services.
