Habibganj station will now be named as Rani Kamalapati station

MP, 13/11: The proposal to change the name of the country’s first world class Habibganj station has been approved. Habibganj station will now be named as Rani Kamalapati station. It is believed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also make a formal announcement of its new name during the inauguration of this station on 15 November. Earlier, a proposal was sent to the Union Home Ministry by the Transport Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, in which it was said that the name of Habibganj station should be changed to Rani Kamalapati. Now this proposal has been approved and the name of the station has been changed.

Significantly, earlier there was a demand from some prominent leaders of BJP to change the name of Habibganj station after former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Apart from former BJP minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya and former Rajya Sabha MP Prabhat Jha, MP Pragya Thakur had also demanded a name change. The name of Habibganj station is being changed but that self. It will not be done on Atal Bihari Vajpayee but on Gond Rani, Rani Kamalapati. The reason behind this is also trying to woo the tribals.
