Election commission will decide after January 5 about assembly elections in 5 States

New Delhi, 27/12: Amidst the increasing cases of Omicron in the country, a meeting of the Election Commission and Health Ministry officials was held today regarding the assembly elections of five states to be held early next year. In the meeting, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan gave detailed information related to the new variant Omicron Variant of the Election Commission of Coronavirus. He told that Corona is under control and according to the reports received globally, Omicron is not fatal, but spreads rapidly. In such a situation, there is a need to adopt preventive measures and take precautionary measures.

 

Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the state governments are taking all necessary steps to control the Omicron variant of Corona at the earliest. The Health Secretary said that special vigil is being kept in the states where elections are to be held early next year. There are not many cases of Omicron in election-related states yet, but have been asked to take necessary steps. The vaccination campaign of adults is going on and vaccination of children is going to start soon.

 

 

In view of the information given by Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, the Election Commissioner has asked the Health Secretary to hold a meeting in the first week of January with a detailed report. The Election Commissioner said, ‘There will be a meeting on January 5 on the complete report of the states where elections are held, such as how many corona cases are there, the status of vaccination and how the Center is working closely with the states. Only after this will it be decided that when the assembly elections will be held in five states.

 

 

Focus in states where vaccination rate is very low

Earlier on 23 December, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan had asked those states to increase vaccination in view of corona infection, where its speed is very low. The Health Secretary, during a review meeting with all states, expressed concern that areas with low vaccination coverage may be more vulnerable to Omicron. The district administration will have to pay special attention to vaccination in these areas. Elections are proposed in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur early next year.
