Mumbai, 21/2 (AO Bureau). Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil faced criticism on Saturday after he claimed that Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) had appointed APJ Abdul Kalam (APJ Abdul Kalam) as the President of India in 2002.
Patil said at a party function on Friday that the BJP is not against patriotic Muslims, it is only against those whoact like sleeper cells’. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave opportunities to many ordinary people …. He made APJ Abdul Kalam the President of India.”
The BJP leader said that Kalam was made the President not because of his religion but because of his contribution as a scientist. Patil’s statement raised eyebrows because Kalam became the President in July 2002 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of the country.
