Puducherry, 22/2 (AO Bureau):A one-day special session has begun on Monday morning to determine the future of Congress in Puducherry Floor Test Live. Chief Minister V Narayanasamy introduced a vote of confidence in the House. During this, the Chief Minister told the House that his government had a majority. However, later Narayanasamy’s government lost its majority during the trust vote. At the same time, before presenting the trust vote, he demanded full statehood. At the same time, he accused former Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi and the BJP’s central government of toppling his government.
Puducherry’s newly appointed Deputy Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan has directed Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy to prove his majority in the Assembly. The Lt. Governor has given this directive after the opposition claimed to lose the majority of the ruling Congress-DMK alliance. After the resignation of Congress MLA K Laxminarayanan and DMK MLA Venkatesan on Sunday, the number of MLAs of the Congress-DMK alliance in the 33-member assembly has come down to 11, while the opposition parties have 14 MLAs. Former Minister A.K. Four Congress MLAs, including Namasivayam (now in BJP) and Malladi Krishna Rao, had earlier resigned, while another MLA from the party was disqualified. Narayanasamy’s close aide John Kumar also resigned this week.
