Kantapada village women oppose sale of illegal liquor in village bazaar

Bhubaneswar : Kantapada village, Gop block is known for sporting activities and hard work. Villagers are peace loving. Unfortunately for the last couple of months some anti social elements have started selling illegal liquor in the village bazaar in broad day light. Though villagers have been time and again raising voice against such illegal liquor sale in the bazaar which is near to the school their appeal has fallen on deaf ear of anti social elements and also administration. Recently all villagers have represented to the Collector Puri , SP Puri, Superintendent Excise and other authorities to take action to stop such illegal sale of liquor but no visible action have been taken. Some surprise checks by excise department have not yielded satisfactory result. Soon the excise officials leave these anti social elements start selling liquor. Some of the nearby villagers say that excise department and police are hand in glove with the illegal liquor sellers. Sale of liquor near school have irked women collective of the village and they have demonstrated for the last two to three days. Some of the women say that they will continue to demonstrate till the illegals sale stops. All villagers and women collective of the village have given petition to District Collector and Superintendent Police and Excise Superintendent to stop such illegal activities. A big question remains will the administration listen to the women and stop the illegal sale of liquor. President of the village Shri Mohani Behera has told that the villagers have appealed to district authorities to take action. Prominent villagers Shri Kanhu Behera, Kartik Behera, Panchana Behera, Ratnakara Behera and others say that they will unitedly fight to stop this nuisance.
