Chennai, 18/12: Four districts in southern Tamil Nadu continue to be battered by extremely heavy rains since Sunday, marooning several low-lying areas and throwing normal life out of gear. Kayalpattinam in the Thoothukudi district received a whooping 90 cm of rain in just 24 hours, much more than the annual rainfall, while several towns in Tirunelveli district recorded over 40 cm of rain during the same period.
