Gunupur: : ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ event was organized on the campus of GIET University, initiated by the university’s National Service Scheme (NSS). The program began with tree plantation by the chief guest, Mrs. Sebati Sahu, a National Florence Nightingale Award recipient from Nabarangpur.
As part of the ceremony, Mrs. Sahu planted the first sapling to officially launch the event. Honorable guests, including University Chairman Dr. Satya Prakash Panda and Vice-Chairman Dr. Chandra Dhwaj Panda, also participated by planting saplings and encouraged everyone to plant a tree in their mother’s name. They praised the volunteers for their commendable efforts in environmental protection and emphasized the significance of such initiatives.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. A.V.N.L. Sharma, Registrar Dr. N.V.J. Rao, Dean of the School of Engineering Dr. A.V. Srinivasa Rao, and Controller of Examinations Dr. P. Vijay Kumar also joined the tree plantation activities.
NSS Program Officer Professor Bani Prasad Nayak (Unit-1), Ghanistha Prusti (Unit-2), Dr. Premansu Shekhar Rath, Pramod Ranjan Panda, Ashish Kumar Samal, Dhumesh Meher, Jayanti Dang, along with other faculty members, students, and NSS volunteers, enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive.
