India and China decide to resume Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and direct flights

New Delhi: India and China decided to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the summer of 2025. The relevant mechanism will discuss the modalities for doing so as per existing agreements, added the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). According to reports, in order to better the bilateral ties, India and China have decided to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, stopped since 2020. “The relevant mechanism will discuss the modalities for doing so as per existing agreements. They also agreed to hold an early meeting of the India-China Expert Level Mechanism to discuss resumption of provision of hydrological data and other cooperation pertaining to trans-border rivers,” a statement by the ministry of external affairs stated. “The two sides took stock of the extant mechanisms for functional exchanges. It was agreed to resume these dialogues step by step and to utilize them to address each other’s priority areas of interest and concern. Specific concerns in the economic and trade areas were discussed with a view to resolving these issues and promoting long-term policy transparency and predictability,” the MEA added The Indian capital of New Delhi and The People’s republic of China capital Beijing also agreed on the resumption of direct flights during a meeting. The meeting was attended by foreign secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Kailash Mansarovar has great importance in Sanatan Dharma.

For a trip to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, you can register online on the website of the Ministry of External Affairs. For the journey a must keep is:

  • a passport size photo,
  • first and last page photo of the passport,
  • phone number and email

It is worth mentioning here that, it takes at least 25 days to complete the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It can cost you somewhere around 1.5 to 3 lakhs. However, if a traveler is found unfit, his journey can be cancelled. All those who want to undertake the journey will have to undergo a fitness test in the ‘Delhi Heart and Lung Institute’.
