It was a night long operation where a cat & mouse game ensued between the vigilance teams and the accused as he changed locations and vehicles. Following the tip off that the accused had called some contractors at Jagatpur Irrigation IB and collected bribes, the vigilance teams sprang into action in Kataka & Bhubaneswar to monitor his movements. However, the accused SE kept changing his locations, confusing the vigilance teams. Later, through mobile tracking, the vigilance team found his location near Delta Chak, Bhubaneswar, and traced him at the Delta Irrigation IB, where he was participating in a bhoji. He had also changed his hired vehicle by then. To confirm his identity, 2 vigilance sleuths in plain clothes entered the IB & joined the ongoing party to keep a watch on him. Following the party, the accused SE changed to his official Bolero vehicle and proceeded to meet another contractor. On the way, near AG Chakk, Bhubaneswar, the vigilance team following him, intercepted and searched him and recovered the cash from his possession.
In the meantime, another vigilance team rushed to the residence of the accused SE at Trident Galaxy Apartment based on tip-off from the source & kept it under guard. Following his interception at AG Chakk and recovery of Rs 7.38 lakhs cash from the SE, the team entered the house and recovered further Rs 14.6 Lakhs cash during searches Due to such coordinated and immediate action, the family members could not conceal the cash lying at home, and the same was seized.
