Malkangiri: As many as eight Maoists have been killed in exchange of fire with security forces in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, said reports on Saturday. According to reports, an exchange of fire between police and Maoists took place in the Todka forest of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, bordering Malkangiri district in Odisha. It has been reported that, more than eight Maoists were killed in the police encounter. The exchange of fire is still underway in the forest. The police got a big success during the combing operation by STF, DRG and CRPF jawans. Recently on January 29, there had been an encounter between security forces that is Jharkhand police and CoBR 209 battalion and the naxals in which one Naxalite had been killed. According to reports, in the exchange of fire the body of one naxal has been recovered so far. A few more have been been injured. It is worth mentioning that as many as two INSAS rifles were also recovered. Operation and search are underway in this regard. More details awaited in this regard. Recently on January 27, maoists killed a villager suspecting him to be a Police informer in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border area in the Bijapur district of Chhattishgarh. The incident took place in the Kesamundi village of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, bordering Odisha’s Malkangiri district. The deceased has been identified as Hidma Sodhi. As per reports, the Maoists brutally murdered him with a sharp weapon. Maoist posters were also seen at the scene of the incident. The poster mentioned that anyone who gives information about a Maoist to the police will face such consequences. As per the Maoist note, he had been sentenced to death in a Kangaroo court for collaborating with the police in anti-Maoist activities.
