3-hour power outage hits Burla VIMSAR, Chemo administered in torchlight

Sambalpur: The cancer patients were administered Chemo therapy in torchlight as there was a power outrage in VIMSAR at Burla in Sambalpur district in Odisha recently. The video of the incident has gone viral. As per reports, cancer patients were administered chemo at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) by using mobile light. It has been alleged that the electricity department cut the power supply in the cancer ward without prior intimation. As a result, the cancer patients were left in darkness for 3 hours. Even, some patients were forced to receive chemo by using mobile light in this emergency situation caused due to the power outrage in VIMSAR. As a result, the patients were left in a state of panic. Question has been raised about why the power was cut in the hospital without any information. Even the generator did not work after the power cut. A video of a woman being given chemotherapy by lighting a mobile phone is going viral. VIMSAR authorities said that the electricity department had cut the power supply without giving any prior intimation. An investigation will be conducted into the matter as the generator was also not working after the power failure.
