Malkangiri, The security forces of Bastar Division in Sukma district bordering Malkangiri district have arrested six Naxals. Two of them are Enemy Naxals and are accused of killing a villager by firing at a polling booth. The Konta and veji police stations of Sukma district are considered to have achieved a great success. A total of six Naxals, including two cadre Naxals, have been arrested in a joint search operation under the anti-Naxal campaign. A reward of Rs 2 lakh was announced on one of them and Rs 1 lakh on the other. The two main Naxals arrested were involved in the incident of firing at the security forces at the Banda polling station during the 2023 assembly elections. In addition, they were also found involved in the brutal murder of Tati Budhara, a villager of Gangrajpad village in 2024. A huge quantity of explosives including a 3 kg tin bomb, 7 meters of cordex wire, 15 meters of electric wire and 5 electric detonators were seized from these Naxalites. A case under Section 4(a) of the Explosives Act was registered against them at Veji Police Station and all the six accused were arrested and produced in court, from where they were sent to jail on judicial remand.
