Bhubaneswar, 18/7: The result of Swachh Survekhan 2024-25 has come out today ranking state capital at 9th position in the country. The award giving ceremony conducted in the premises of Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi, was quite remarkable where Hon’ble President and Central Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Affairs conferred awards to the respective cities.
From the ministry of Housing and Urban Development Affairs, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Sri Manoharlal Khatar and Minister Sri Tokhan Sahoo coferred the award to the representing team led by Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Odisha Dr. Krushna Ch. Sahoo and Hon’ble Mayor BMC Smt. Sulochana Das. Dignitaries like Smt. Rupa Mishra IAS- Joint Secy.SBM, Smt.Usha Padhee IAS – Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Odisha, Commissioner BMC Sri Rajesh Prabhakar Patil IAS and BMC Sanitation Standing Committee Chairman Sri Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakkar were present during event.
Swachha Survekhan has created a sense of behavior change amongst the cities of the country. Day by day cities are performing better. In case of Bhubaneswar, it is continuously progressing with its achievements. This year Bhubaneswar achieved 9th position against the last year’s stand at 34 and it is a positive vive for all. The credit of such achievement goes to the citizens of Bhubaneswar; says Hon’ble Mayor.
Out of total score 12500 Bhubaneswar has secured 10548 . Taking macro components into account , the city has secured 97% in door to door collection , 78% in source segregation, 98% in processing, 3 star in Garbage free city and water+ in ODF status.
The review also include Cleanliness of habitation, markets, water bodies, toilets and so on.
Throughout the year our safaikarmacharis, Swachh sathis, agencies, staff and corporation members have tried their best for achieving excellency in sanitation. Continued cooperation of citizens have been instrumental for us to achieve such standard and we have to look forward, says Commissioner.
