Bhubaneswar: With a fresh low-pressure area taking shape over the Bay, Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall under its the influence.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), another low-pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around July 24 and the intensity of downpour in the state is expected to increase after two days.The IMD has issued a yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi till the morning of July 22.Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore during the period.On July 22-23, heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, and Malkangiri.Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Nuapada, and Nabarangpur during the period. IMD issued a yellow warning.On July 23-24, an orange warning was issued by the weather agency. Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, and Nayagarh.Likewise, yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Boudh.On July 24-25, orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph was issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.Yellow Warning: Heavy rain and thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
