Bhubaneswar, July 26: With changes happening at a rapid pace, continuous
learning and skilling is the new norm, Mr. Ranjan Bhowmick, Chief Executive
Officer of Skill Development Institute (SDI) here, said on Friday.
“As per the need of the hour, formal education has to be integrated with
skilling which has become imperative,” Mr. Bhowmick said while speaking at the
valedictory function of the five-day ‘Faculty Development Program (FDP) on
Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ which was held at the Institute of Business and
Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management sciences of SOA Deemed to be
University here.
Mr. Bhowmick, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said the SDI, an
outcome oriented institute, was skilling the youth and enhancing livelihood. It
was running multiple short term courses and around 92 per cent of the SDI
trainees were getting placement, he said.
Dr. Namrata Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of Bhubaneswar City
Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC), who was the guest of honour, said the
time had become ripe for making students future ready.
Describing the faculty members as the change makers, she said young
researchers were accepting entrepreneurship in a big way. The Odisha based
start-ups were also doing well, she said.
The program was also addressed by Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Pro-
Vice Chancellor and Registrar and Prof. Prasanta Kumar Patra, Pro-Vice Chancellor
of SOA, Prof. Ayasa Kanta Mohanty, Dean of IBCS, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean
(Students’ Welfare), Prof. Manoranjan Dash, Associate Dean, IBCS and Dr. Neha
Gupta, Co-PI of the FDP, spoke.
Twenty one experts from various domains addressed more than 50
participants from different educational institutions of Odisha who attended the
FDP.
