No flood-like situation in Odisha, water level within safe limits

Bhubaneswar: Chief Engineer Chandrasekhar Padhi informed that there is no flood-like situation in the state. The water level of Subarnarekha, Jalaka and Baitarani rivers have lowered and are within the safe limits he added. The Chief Engineer said, “The water level in Subarnarekha, Jalaka and Baitarani rivers have receded from the higher areas. Efforts are underway to drain out the water from the low lying areas.” “There was not much rainfall yesterday and thus water level has gone below the danger mark and is within the safe limits,” he added. Twenty gates of Hirakud dam are being opened to release the floodwater and two gates were closed later on. The water level of the reservoir is 614.27 feet. Around 2.76 cc of water is entering the reservoir, while 3.40 cc of water is being drained out. The status of the water level is being monitored and the gates will be closed. According to sources, water is being drained out through three gates of Rengali dam.
