Khordha: In a devastating accident, the driver of a truck died on the spot while the helper sustained critical injury in Khordha district of Odisha on Monday.The accident took place near Gourachandrapur on the National Highway no. 16 Tangi-Chandpur Bypass.The deceased driver has been identified as Mustawari Milan. And the critically injured helper has been identified as Debrabrat Banerjee. Both are from West Bengal.As per reports, the water pipe laden truck was on its way to Chennai from Kolkata when it overturned near Gourachandrapur after the driver lost control over the steering.Due to incessant rain, the truck loaded with pipes lost its balance and crashed into a pile of earth on the roadside. The severity of the accident was so huge that the pipes hit the cabin, causing the truck’s cabin to separate from the truck.While the driver died on the spot, the helper turned critical. He was trapped inside the truck for hours.On receiving the information, the Tangi Fire Brigade and Chandpur police reached the spot and rescued him.The critically injured person has been shifted to Bhubaneswar for further treatment.The police have seized the truck along with the body and further investigation of the case is underway.
