Bhubaneswar: In a first of its kind, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct a dog census in the state of Odisha. The census will be conducted in two phases in 67 wards. The first phase counting will begin from September 17 to 20 and the second phase is slated to be held between 21 to 24.Special teams will be conducted for every zone, wards and streets in the wards for the counting of stray dogs in Bhubaneswar. This census will be conducted in every street in two phases. It will be carried with the use of advanced and scientific modern technologies and processes. Special arrangements have been conducted by the BMC for the same.The teams will begin their work early in the morning from 5.00 am and it will continue till 7.00 am for two hours. Under the supervision of veterinarians, Swachha Sathi, Swaccha Supervisors, sanitary inspectors, SMTA, EO, CO, ward officers will conduct the programme. As many as 410 teams have been constituted for the process of counting. These teams will conduct the counting in several places in Bhubaneswar through scientific procedures.This step has been taken by BMC, in the best interest of the people of Bhubaneswar and to prevent accidents and the spread of various infectious diseases. The BMC Mayor Sulochana Das has requested the residents to cooperate during the census.
