Sambalpur: Junior Assistant Dusmanta Kumar Sahu and Peon Gopabandhu Sahu of Rengali Block Education Office (BEO) in Sambalpur district were nabbed by the Vigilance officials while taking bribe.They were apprehended for demanding Rs 25,000 bribe and taking the 1st instalment of Rs 7,000 from an official of the said office for drawl of his pay and arrears and other pending dues.Sahu was allegedly regularly seeking bribes from teachers and other staff for processing their rightful claims. In the present case, the accused demanded Rs 25,000 from the complainant.Sahu had sought Rs 7000 for processing his pay and further Rs 18,000 to process his arrears. When the complainant requested for consideration, he asked him to pay Rs 7,000 as the first instalment and Rs 18,000 later on drawl of arrears. Due to such high demand, the complainant reported the matter before vigilance authorities, following which a vigilance team nabbed accused Dusmanta Kumar Sahu today while taking bribe Rs 7,000 through his subordinate Gopabandhu Sahu.The entire tainted bribe money Rs 7,000 was recovered from the possessions of Dusmanta Kumar Sahu and Gopabandhu Sahu and seized.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of the Junior Assistant and one location linked to the peon from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.In this connection, Vigilance PS Case No18 /2025, U/s-7/12 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused duo.
