Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a red warning for rain and thunderstorm in Bhubaneswar.
While issuing red alert, the weather department predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm is expected to occur across the State Capital City during the next three hours.
Meanwhile, the residents of Bhubaneswar witnessed heavy downpour and strong lightings for about an hour following which knee-deep water was seen on the roads of the city. The low-lying areas were also submerged in rainwater.
Besides, hundreds of vehicles were stranded on roads due to the rain and lightning. This led to major traffic problem in several major chhakas like Rajmahal Square, AG Square, Kalpana Square, CRP Square, Rupali Square, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar and Rasulgarh.
