Bhubaneswar 05.12.2025, a short while ago, Sri Gouranga Sahu, Forester of Bandhbahal Section under Brajrajnagar Range, Dist. Jharsuguda has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.5,000/- from a person to grant permission in his favour and allow him for cutting and transportation of dry Eucalyptus Tree from his land. But, Forester Sri Sahu demanded bribe Rs 5,000/- from the person to pass order to cut/transport dry trees from his own land, prompted him to report the matter to Vigilance authorities. Upon receiving the information, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Sahu, Forester, today while taking bribe Rs.5,000/ from the land owner inside the office campus when accused Sri Sahu was about to flee from the spot on seeing the alert Vigilance team. The entire bribe money Rs.5,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Sahu and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Sahu from DA angle.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.13 dt.04.12.2025 U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Sahu, Forester. Detailed report follows
