10 Soldiers Killed, Seven Injured as Army Vehicle Falls into Gorge in J-K’s Doda

Ten Indian Army personnel died, and seven others sustained injuries after their vehicle skidded off the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road and plunged into a deep gorge in Doda district on Thursday.

The accident occurred at Khanni Top when the bulletproof Army vehicle, carrying 17 soldiers, was heading toward a high-altitude post. Officials said the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to fall nearly 200 feet into the gorge.Army and police teams immediately launched a joint rescue operation. They recovered the bodies of ten soldiers and rescued seven others in injured condition. Among the injured, three soldiers suffered critical wounds and wereairlifted to the Army Command Hospital in Udhampur.Officials confirmed that the vehicle was part of a routine movement toward forward positions. The accident highlights the risks faced by personnel operating in treacherous terrain along the Jammu and Kashmir border regions.Local authorities said the rescue operation was completed swiftly despite difficult conditions. The Army has not yet released the identities of the deceased soldiers, pending notification of their families.
