Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Pradesh Prasad Nayak, Junior Engineer (JE), TPSODL, Malkangiri, and his associate Bhanjakishor Swain, while they were demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a bricks factory owner in exchange for providing an electricity connection.The Vigilance team caught the duo near the main gate of the office while they were accepting the bribe. The entire tainted amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered and seized from their possession.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Nayak from the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle. In connection with the incident, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 01/2026 has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against both accused.Officials confirmed that an investigation is in progress to uncover further details and assess the extent of corruption. A detailed report is expected to follow.
