A shocking twist emerged in Nabarangpur district after a girl missing for 12 years contacted her family from Haryana, revealing a harrowing story of exploitation and abuse.The girl, now 28, disappeared in 2014 from the Dabugaon area when she was 16. Her family had filed a missing complaint at Dabugaon Police Station, but received no leads for years.Recently, she called her brother and narrated how she was trafficked to Haryana’s Bajoda block in Dadra district. She said Aruni Nayak, daughter of Ebol Nayak from Birimahanpur village under Amapani Police Station in Kalahandi, lured her with a job offer and sold her to a man in Haryana. The trafficker allegedly changed her name to Rashmita and arranged a fake Aadhaar card.The victim told her brother that she had been forced into a relationship and now has two daughters and a son. She said she suffers from physical and mental abuse and is not allowed to meet her children. She begged her family to rescue her, saying she might die if help does not arrive soon.Following the revelation, her family approached Kadambini Tripathy, chairperson of Matru Ashray in Nabarangpur. Tripathy announced that she would submit a formal request to the Superintendent of Police to rescue the woman and hand her over to her family.During a press conference, the family demanded the immediate arrest of Aruni Nayak and swift action to bring the woman back from Haryana.
