Ayurveda Student Found Dead At Puri Home, Mystery Shrouds Death

Puri: The sudden death of a second-year student of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya at her rented residence in Puri has left her family, friends, and fellow students in shock, with the exact cause of death yet to be established. Family members are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.The deceased, identified as Sangramika Panda, was staying with her parents in a rented house near Jhadeswari Temple in Puri while pursuing her studies at the Ayurveda college.According to family members, Sangramika spent Saturday night (June 6) completing her practical record books and other academic work. On Sunday morning (June 7), she reportedly woke up around 9 a.m., had breakfast, and spoke with her mother before returning to her room to rest.Concern arose when she did not respond to repeated calls for lunch later in the day. Her parents rushed her to Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.The news of her death sent shockwaves through the college campus. Students and faculty members expressed grief over the loss of a young student whose death came without any apparent warning.“We are unable to believe what has happened. We received the information on Sunday and immediately tried contacting her family. Everyone is shocked and waiting for the post-mortem report to reveal the cause of death,” said Soumyajit Patra, a fifth-year student and close friend of the deceased.In a touching display of solidarity, fellow students came forward to support the bereaved family during the final rites. Following the post-mortem examination, Sangramika’s mortal remains were taken to Swargadwar Crematorium, where her classmates shouldered the bier.With only a few relatives present, Soumyajit Patra performed the last rites and offered mukhagni (the ceremonial lighting of the funeral pyre), considering Sangramika his sister.The emotional farewell drew attention across the campus, with many students describing the gesture as a reflection of the close bonds shared within the institution.The untimely demise of the young student has cast a pall of gloom over Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, with students mourning the loss of a friend and classmate whose life was cut short unexpectedly.
