Lord Jagannath Is Odisha’s True King, Not the Chief Minister: Mohan Majhi

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday asserted that Lord Jagannath remains the supreme ruler of Odisha, while the Chief Minister’s role is dedicated to serving the people.Addressing a felicitation ceremony in Puri, Majhi said that the position of Chief Minister should not be viewed as a symbol of authority but as a responsibility to serve society. “In Odisha, the Chief Minister is not the ruler. Lord Jagannath is the real king, and the Chief Minister’s chair is a medium for public service,” he said.The Chief Minister was honoured at a special function organised by Shri Jagannath Bhakta Seva Sansthan at the Town Hall in Puri. The felicitation recognised his efforts in safeguarding Jagannath culture and his role in the removal of the word “Dham” from the Jagannath temple in Digha, West Bengal.The event witnessed the participation of Puri MP Sambit Patra, Jagannath temple servitors, scholars of Jagannath culture, priests, and a large number of devotees.Speakers at the programme praised the state government’s initiatives aimed at preserving Odisha’s cultural heritage and strengthening the global recognition of Odia identity and Jagannath traditions.
