AM/NS India observed Independence Day with patriotic fervour across Odisha locations

Bhubaneswar, August 17, 2026: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) commemorated the 80th Independence Day with pride and enthusiasm across its Odisha operations. At the Paradeep Pellet Plant, Shri U.S.R. Raju, Head–Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, unfurled the National Flag in the presence of employees and villagers. The celebrations highlighted India’s unity and integrity through cultural performances by girls from neighbouring villages and security staff. The event also included the felicitation of community members and an award ceremony honouring employees and security personnel for their exemplary service.

In his address, Shri USR Raju, Head-Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, said, “Our Nation’s destiny is shaped by the collective spirit of unity, resilience, and innovation. Let us move forward with determination, honouring our heritage and creating a future filled with promise for generations to come.”

At AM/NS India’s Beneficiation Plant in Dabuna, Keonjhar, Shri Jaiwardhan Paroha, Plant Head, Beneficiation Plant, Dabuna, AM/NS India joined as Chief Guest and led the celebrations. Commencing with the flag hoisting, the event witnessed a parade by the security personnel, floral tribute to the Amar Jawans followed by march Past by participating teams.

In the Ghoraburhani Sagasahi mine of AM/NS India, Shri Satyakam Dash, Mines Manager, AM/NS India hoisted the tri-colour flag in the presence of Shri Ratnesh Prasad, Head- Project, AM/NS India along with Shri Manoj Kumar, General Manager, Thriveni Earthmovers and other employees and partners. At AM/NS India’s Thakurani Mine, Shri Indrakant Saha, Mines Manger, hoisted the national flag in the presence of employees and Mines Developers & Operator [MDO] followed by an award ceremony for security personnel.

The CSR team supported sixteen schools and Twenty-six Anganwadi centres in Paradeep in celebrating Independence Day. A series of events such as essay writing, debate, and drawing competitions were organised in the community to mark the occasion. In a ceremony held at Maa Ambika High School, prizes were awarded to the winners of the various competitions. At Dabuna, the CSR team celebrated with students of Indira Smruti Bidyapitha School, Govt Primary School and Shree Gupteswar High School engaging more than 150 students in the joint celebrations. AM/NS India supported schools and Anganwadi centres near Thakurani and Sagasahi mines in celebrating Independence Day. In Sagasahi, the CSR team extended its support to the Mahakal Youth Club, Kalmang, by assisting in the grand Independence Day celebration. The event featured various competitions for students, including song, debate, dance, and drawing. Prizes were distributed to the winners in recognition of their enthusiasm, creativity and talent. AM/NS India supported ten schools, eight Anganwadi centres, and Gram Panchayats in these areas by, awarding prizes, providing sweets, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the local community and Nation building.
