Bhubaneswar: A fake currency racket has been busted in Balangir district of Odisha today. STF seized Rs 49,000 in counterfeit notes, informed STF DIG Pinak Mishra on Thursday. As many as two persons have been arrested in this connection. The accused have been identified as Mohd Sabir (45) of Raghunathpada under Titlagarh Police Station and Netra Raut (44) of Sikir in Titlagarh area. On the basis of reliable information, STF with the help of Bolangir District Police detected a case of illegal business of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) yesterday on the Bolangir-Titlagarh road near village Sikir under Titlagarh Police limits. Police conducted raid and nabbed the two above named accused persons. During search, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of Rs.49 thousand and other incriminating articles were recovered and seized from the possession of the accused persons. A case has been registered at Titilagarh Police Station in this connection. This refers to Titilagarh Police Station Case No. 127 dated 09.04.2025 U/S. 178/179/180/61(2) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Further investigation of the case is underway.
