Temperature in Odisha likely to rise after April 20: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday predicted that temperature in Odisha is expected to rise after April 20. Currently, the maximum temperature in the State is hovering below the 40 degree Celsius-mark due to the ongoing rain in different parts of the State. However, it is expected to rise after April 20. As forecasted by the weather department, the rainfall activity in the state would come down after three days and thereafter the maximum temperature especially in the interior region of the State is likely to cross the 40 degree Celsius-mark. Meanwhile, IMD predicted that the thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak till 8.30 AM tomorrow. It also said that thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam. During this period of time (i.e till 8.30 AM), thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh and Sundargarh.
