A gang of 12 armed robbers allegedly decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh from a house in Kendrapara district on Friday night.The incident took place around 9 pm at the residence of Dhaneswar Rout in Khandiapatana village under Aul police station limits. The accused allegedly entered through the rear entrance and held the occupants at gunpoint. The robbers reportedly took away mobile phones of family members and threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm. The robbers later broke open an almirah locker and decamped with gold and silver jewellery. Besides, they also looted Rs 95,000 in cash.Upon being informed, Aul police reached the spot and launched an investigation. A scientific team and a dog squad were pressed into service to collect evidence.
