Around two dozen Indians still with Russian Army; MEA steps up efforts for their release

NewDelhi, 31/7: Around two dozen Indian nationals continue to serve in the Russian Army, with the government pursuing their release through sustained diplomatic engagement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.

The government has repeatedly urged Moscow to discharge all Indian nationals serving with Russian military units in support roles, including as cooks and helpers. Addressing a weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India’s efforts have so far secured the release of 139 Indian nationals.
