Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) on Friday initiated an inquiry into the shocking mob lynching incident that took place at Balianta on the outskirts of the capital city.A high-level team headed by OSCW Chairperson Shovana Mohanty visited the crime scene to assess the situation. The team thoroughly inspected the spot where the violence occurred and later went to the residence of the victim to record her statement. After the visit, Mohanty assured that strict action would be taken against everyone found guilty in the case.She assured that the Commission would carry out a comprehensive investigation based on evidence and ground realities. She further emphasized that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has given clear instructions that no culprit would be spared.Notably, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when two youths were allegedly assaulted by locals after two women accused them of attempted sexual assault following a motorcycle collision. One of the victims, Soumya Ranjan Swain (32), a Government Railway Police constable, was beaten to death by the mob, while the second youth, Om Prakash Rout, is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
