Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has begun its preparation for hustle-free Durga puja celebrations across the State Capital City, Bhubaneswar.This year, the Durga puja will be celebrated at a total of 198 pandals across Bhubaneswar. However, the Commissionerate Police has categoriesed them and giving more focus on the major puja pandals where huge number of devotees visit and offer their prayers to goddess Durga.As part of its efforts to tighten the security arrangement, the city police has decided to deploy cops for foot patrolling along with the bike, and Police Control Room (PCR) vehicle patrolling.Besides, special teams have been formed at the police station level to monitor for criminal activities during the Puja festivities. Cops will be deployed in plainclothes to keep a close vigil on suspected people and take immediate action whenever needed.The Commissionerate police also has decided to pay special attention to prevent chain-snatching and theft at the puja pandals. For this, police also has made the installation of CCTV cameras at all Puja pandals mandatory.Parking areas have been designated to prevent congestion on the roads, and Puja committee authorities have been instructed to ensure parking takes place only at the specific locations, informed the police adding that directives also have been issued prohibiting driving of vehicles on wrong routes.
