Bhubaneswar to celebrate Lord Jagannath’s 32 Besha with week-long spiritual, cultural fest

Bhubaneswar, August 13: The capital city is set to host a week-long spiritual and cultural celebration showcasing the many forms of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath through the traditional 32 Besha.The programme will be held from August 14 to 20 at the Lingaraj Bhajan Mandap, near the Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar.A key attraction will be the 32 Besha Exhibition, where visitors will get an opportunity to view representations of the 32 different attires and forms associated with Lord Jagannath.The week-long celebration will also feature Divyang Bhajan Sandhya, a special devotional programme in which visually impaired children will perform bhajans. Organisers said the programme aims to highlight inclusion and the power of music and devotion in bringing people together.The event will additionally feature Kathamruta, cultural programmes and the felicitation of Jagannath devotees.The programme is being jointly organised by the Odisha Service Center For The Divyang Peoples, Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan India and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bhubaneswar Mahanagar.Preparations for the celebration are already underway, with organisers recently holding a preparatory meeting in Bhubaneswar ahead of the August 14 inauguration.The seven-day event is expected to bring together Jagannath tradition, spirituality, culture and inclusive participation, offering devotees and visitors an opportunity to explore the diverse forms and traditions associated with Mahaprabhu.
