Allegation of Circulation of Objectionable Content About Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Social Media
Baripada, September 9, 2026: A complaint has been lodged at Baripada Town Police Station by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal against BJP workers, alleging that an AI-generated, distorted, obscene and defamatory image of Opposition Leader and former Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik was created and circulated on social media.
It has been alleged that social media was misused in a manner that could create tension and differences among people belonging to different religions and communities.
Former Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik is a well-known public figure. The creation and circulation of obscene, distorted or defamatory digital content concerning him is a serious and condemnable matter, the complainants stated.
The complaint alleges that BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha district vice-president Sanjit Behera and others created and circulated a distorted, obscene and objectionable image of Shri Naveen Patnaik through social media.
According to the complaint, the original photograph of Shri Naveen Patnaik was altered or distorted and presented in a manner that could damage his social reputation and dignity. The circulation of such digital content could not only cause defamation of a public figure but could also create misleading impressions among the general public.
It has further been alleged that the content was publicly circulated on social media in a manner that could create misunderstanding, tension, differences or hostility among different religious, community and social groups. The complainants stated that such activities could adversely affect social peace and harmony.
In this context, the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation and take strong legal action against the persons accused of creating and circulating the alleged objectionable digital content.
Biju Chhatra Janata Dal district president Abhas De, Biju Yuva Janata Dal district working president Sunil Nayak, Chitreshwar Behera, Deepak Kumar Madhuual, Abhay Kumar Singh, Sheikh Hakim Uddin, Bhishma Narayan Nayak, Biswajit Paricha, Debabrata Senapati, Tarun Nayak, Bijan Kumar Giri, Ram Chandra Biswal, Shubhankar Sahu, Satyam Rana, Manish Giri, Deepak Sahu, Tanmay Parida, Abhijit Kalia, Rahul Nayak, Amit Kumar Baitha, Bibhu Shankar Patnaik, Saumya Ranjan Das, Ashish Kumar Parida, Tanmay Mahanta, Durga Mahanta, Abinash Behera, Sehejan Khan and Abinash Singh, among others, were present.
