Bank of Baroda and G.M. University Organise Cyber Security Awareness
Sambalpur, 7 October 2026: Bank of Baroda, in association with G.M. University, Sambalpur, organised a Cyber Security Awareness Programme on 7 October 2026 at G.M. University, Sambalpur, with the objective of creating awareness among students and participants about the growing threat of cyber fraud and the importance of safe and responsible digital practices. The programme was graced by Charan Singh Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sambalpur, as the Chief Guest and Speaker. In his address, Shri Meena sensitised the participants about various emerging forms of cybercrime and emphasised the need for vigilance while using digital platforms, mobile applications, social media and online banking services. An important message from the DIG was his appeal to the students to share the knowledge and awareness gained through the programme with others, particularly people who are less educated and those living in rural and village areas. He emphasised that cyber security awareness should reach every section of society, as anyone can become a victim of cyber fraud. The programme also included an interactive question‐and‐answer session, during which Charan Singh Meena addressed and responded to various queries raised by the students regarding cyber fraud, online safety and precautions to be taken while using digital services. The Welcome Address and Introduction was delivered by Dr. Srinibash Dash, HOD, School of Management, G.M. University, Sambalpur. He welcomed the dignitaries and participants and highlighted the importance of cyber security awareness, particularly among the younger generation in the rapidly evolving digital environment. Rakesh Jha, Deputy General Manager, Bank of Baroda, Bhubaneswar Zone, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. He emphasised the importance of responsible digital behaviour and urged the participants to remain alert against fraudulent calls, messages, emails and online transactions. A detailed PowerPoint presentation on Cyber Security Awareness was delivered by Jitendra Sahu, Chief Manager, Bank of Baroda. The presentation covered various common and emerging methods of cyber fraud and explained precautionary measures to protect individuals from financial and digital fraud.
