Bhubaneswar, Jul 23: The Odisha government has clarified that there is no COVID-19 emergency in the state and that the virus is now being treated much like a common influenza or seasonal cold and fever. Public Health Director Dr. Rabindra Nath Mishra said the current situation does not warrant concern, as all reported cases remain mild and are under close medical supervision.Responding to reports of COVID-19 cases in Ganjam district, Dr. Mishra said two patients are currently in home isolation, while one patient has been admitted to hospital as a precaution. He assured that all patients are in stable condition and are being continuously monitored by health authorities.The clarification comes after a COVID-19 case was reported at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Ganjam, where a woman tested positive for the virus and is undergoing treatment. The detection had raised concerns in Odisha following a recent rise in cases in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.According to official figures, Andhra Pradesh recorded 12 COVID-19 cases between June 26 and July 16, with four deaths attributed to the infection during the period. Health officials in Odisha, however, have urged the public not to panic, maintaining that the state’s COVID-19 situation remains fully under control.
