Cricket for Environment and Community Bonding at Angul

Angul, A friendly Day-Night T20 cricket match was organized between the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha and Jindal Steel, Angul, with the objective of promoting sportsmanship,   spreading awareness on environmental responsibility and community bonding.

The exciting match witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, employees, and members of the local community, reflecting the spirit of teamwork and collaboration beyond the workplace. Captained by Sitakantha Sahu, the SPCB team posted a competitive total of 136 runs in 18.4 overs. In reply, the Jindal Steel team, led by Dhananjay Kumar Singh, successfully chased the target with 140/5 in 12.4 overs, securing a five-wicket victory.

The SPCB team displayed remarkable fighting spirit and commendable performance throughout the match. Dibyaranjan Pradhan was declared “Man of the Match” for his explosive innings of 52 runs off just 21 balls.

Senior dignitaries present on the occasion included Executive Director Angul ++,  Mr. P. K. Biju Nair, Executive Director (Iron Zone), Mr. Damodar Mittal, and Vice President, EMD, Mr. Alok Kumar Sahu from Jindal Steel, along with senior officials from the State Pollution Control Board.

Welcoming the players, Mr. P. K. Biju Nair and Mr. Damodar Mittal encouraged the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. Mr. Biju Nair stated that the State Pollution Control Board has been partnering with Jindal Steel in promoting environmental responsibility and creating a better future for coming generations.

The event carried a strong message on environmental awareness in the local eco system and emphasizing the importance of continuing to maintain excellent housekeeping and nourish greenery across the plant premises.
