Floods Affect Seven Odisha Districts; Over 2.92 Lakh Cattle Impacted: Minister

Bhubaneswar: Floods have affected seven districts of Odisha, impacting a large number of livestock, informed Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik.According to the Minister, a total of 88 blocks of seven districts Bhadrak, Jajpur, Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj and Kendrapada have been affected. As many as 2,92,194 cattle and buffaloes, 1,61,983 goats and sheep, and 44,459 poultry birds have been impacted. Besides, 83,265 farmers have also been affected.To ensure the health and safety of animals, 36 Rapid Response Teams have been deployed and 50 animal health camps have been organised. Health check-ups and vaccination of animals are continuing at these camps.Minister also made it clear that adequate stock of cattle feed is available in the state, and fodder is being sent to the districts as per requirement. The government is providing all necessary assistance to the flood-affected people. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has personally visited the flood-hit areas, interacted with the affected people and assessed the damage. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has also monitored the situation on the ground.
