Bhubaneswar: In a major drive against black marketing and illegal storage of LPG cylinders, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department of Odisha conducted raids across several villages on September 8, 2026.According to the official notification released by the department, enforcement teams seized a total of 8,457 LPG cylinders during the operation. As many as 47 FIRs were registered under the Essential Commodities (EC) Act. Nine persons were arrested in connection with the illegal activities.The department stated that strict action is being taken against individuals involved in the illegal stockpiling and sale of domestic gas cylinders in the state.Officials warned that such violations will continue to face stringent legal action to protect the interests of genuine consumers.The crackdown is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to curb black marketing of essential commodities and ensure fair distribution of LPG.
