Gautam Gambhir visits Mahakaleshwar Temple ahead of 3rd T20I vs West Indies

Gautam Gambhir, head coach of the India men’s cricket team and former Indian cricketer, visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on Sunday before India’s third Twenty20 International against West Indies at Holkar Stadium, Indore later that day.Speaking about his visit, Gambhir expressed gratitude for the opportunity to seek blessings at the temple. He stated, “Baba has blessed me again and called me for darshan, for which I am truly grateful. May his blessings remain upon us all and the entire nation, and may our country and the Indian team continue to do well.” He also prayed for the well-being of the country and the continued success of the Indian cricket team.Regarding the ongoing five-match series against West Indies, Gambhir’s Indian team suffered a six-wicket defeat in the second T20I at Ranchi in a high-scoring match that saw over 500 runs combined.West Indies captain Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls, featuring six fours and nine sixes, while Sherfane Rutherford contributed 84 runs from 37 balls with seven fours and seven sixes. Their efforts helped West Indies chase down a challenging target of 250 runs, marking their highest successful T20I chase and the second-highest chase overall in T20 Internationals, behind South Africa’s 259-run chase against West Indies in 2023.West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. India posted 249 for five in 20 overs, boosted by innings from Sanju Samson (82 runs in 41 balls, including nine fours and four sixes), Ishan Kishan (43 in 22 balls, with six fours and two sixes), Tilak Verma (44 not out in 18 balls, with three fours and three sixes), and captain Shreyas Iyer (40 in 18 balls, with three fours and three sixes).Despite reducing West Indies to 58 for three in 5.1 overs, Hope, Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd (34 not out in 13 balls, with three fours and three sixes) successfully completed the chase in 18.3 overs with six wickets remaining.
