Local cattle grazers spotted the body and alerted police. Fire service personnel searched the nearby water tank for the severed head but failed to recover it. Investigators suspect the victim was murdered in a planned manner, with the head deliberately separated and disposed of.
The incident has triggered widespread panic in the area. Police registered a case of unnatural death and launched a probe under the supervision of the SDPO, who visited the spot.
Preliminary reports suggest the deceased may be Santosh Kharasel (40) of Tebadamunda village, who went missing on August 18 evening. His relative, Nitei Thetuar, confirmed he had left home that night and never returned.
Police have detained a man from Bagada village on suspicion and are interrogating him. The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the victim’s identity and motive behind the crime.
