In a significant push towards accelerating industrial development and strengthening the ease of doing business in Odisha, the Land Allotment Committee of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation , chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department and Chairperson, IDCO, Smt Usha Padhee , approved 37 project proposals at its meeting held on September 2, 2026.
The approvals include 24 land proposals for major industrial projects and 13 proposals aimed at promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The decisions are expected to facilitate faster project implementation, create employment opportunities at the local level and strengthen regional industrial and supply-chain ecosystems across the State.
The expeditious disposal of proposals reflects IDCO’s continued focus on time-bound decision-making, responsive land administration and investor facilitation. By ensuring faster processing of land-related proposals, IDCO is working towards creating a more predictable and investor-friendly environment for both large industries and emerging enterprises.
Complementing the faster administrative clearances is a strong emphasis on field-level monitoring and execution. Under the leadership of Smt Padhee, IDCO has intensified direct inspections of emerging industrial estates and strategic industrial corridors across Khordha, Cuttack and Kalinga Nagar, among other locations.
During these field visits, key aspects of industrial infrastructure and project readiness are being assessed on the ground, including land development and grading, master planning, power and water supply, connectivity, dedicated freight movement and other essential civic infrastructure. Particular attention is also being given to the availability of worker-centric facilities and safe, accessible infrastructure to support the growing workforce, including women employees in manufacturing clusters.
The approach seeks to bridge the gap between administrative approval and actual project implementation, with field assessments enabling timely identification of infrastructure gaps and facilitating coordinated action by the concerned agencies.
The twin focus on speedy statutory clearances and rigorous field-level oversight is aimed at ensuring that industrial land is not merely allotted but translated into productive investments, employment generation and sustainable economic activity.
With continued efforts towards responsive land management, infrastructure readiness and investor facilitation, IDCO is strengthening Odisha’s position as an agile, competitive and investor-ready industrial destination, equipped to support both large-scale investments and the growth of MSMEs while fostering inclusive and regionally balanced industrial development.
